Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium apples peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the filling
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon for the topping
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter cubed

Equipment

  • 9x9-inch or 2-quart baking dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Pastry cutter or fork
  • Vegetable peeler

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Step 2: Toss the apples with the brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, and cinnamon and spread in the dish.
  3. Step 3: Mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the topping.
  4. Step 4: Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
  5. Tip: Keep the butter cold for a crunchy topping.
  6. Step 5: Sprinkle the topping over the apples.
  7. Step 6: Bake 40 to 45 minutes until golden and bubbling and cool 10 minutes.

Notes
