Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice warmed
  • 1/4 cup milk warmed
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tbsp melted butter for brushing

Equipment

  • 1 Baking dish
  • 1 Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Step 1: Combine warmed pineapple juice and milk with yeast and a pinch of sugar until foamy.
  2. Tip: Warm the liquids gently — too hot can kill the yeast.
  3. Step 2: Mix in butter, egg, honey, remaining sugar, and salt, then add flour to form a dough.
  4. Step 3: Knead until smooth and elastic, 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. Step 4: Let rise 1 hour, until doubled.
  6. Step 5: Divide into rolls, place in a baking dish, and let rise 30 more minutes.
  7. Step 6: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18 to 20 minutes, until golden.
  8. Step 7: Brush with melted butter immediately after baking.

Notes

Brush the rolls with butter right after baking so it soaks in while they're still warm.
