Ingredients

  • 8 slices soft white sandwich bread crusts removed
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8-12 fresh strawberries hulled

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Hand mixer

Method

  1. Step 1: Whip cream with sugar and vanilla to stiff peaks.
  2. Tip: Whip to stiff peaks so the cream holds its shape when sliced.
  3. Step 2: Spread a thick layer of whipped cream on one side of each bread slice.
  4. Step 3: Arrange strawberries in a row down the center of half the slices.
  5. Step 4: Fill gaps with more whipped cream.
  6. Step 5: Top with the second slice and press gently.
  7. Step 6: Wrap tightly and chill for at least 1 hour.
  8. Step 7: Trim crusts and slice diagonally to reveal the pattern.
  9. Tip: Use a sharp, clean knife for the cleanest cut.

Notes

Chill the wrapped sandwiches for the full hour so the cream firms up enough to slice neatly.
