Ingredients

  • 3 cups shredded potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • oil or cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese optional

Equipment

  • 1 Waffle iron

Method

  1. Step 1: Squeeze excess moisture from the shredded potatoes.
  2. Tip: Removing excess water is key to getting them crispy.
  3. Step 2: Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Step 3: Preheat the waffle iron and spray with oil.
  5. Step 4: Press the potato mixture into the waffle iron in a thin, even layer.
  6. Step 5: Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  7. Step 6: Repeat with remaining potato mixture.

Notes

Grease the waffle iron well, since potatoes can stick more than traditional waffle batter.
